On Saturday, June 12, 2010, Fr. John Ryan was ordained to the Priesthood by Bishop William Murphy. I was invited to be a concelebrant at Fr. Ryan's ordination with a special seat in the sanctuary. It was a great seat from which to take photographs which I did throughout the Ordination Mass.
I'd like to share some of those photos with you.
Before Dcn. John Ryan is ordained to the priesthood he first promises "obedience and respect" to Bishop Murphy and his successors.
With the "laying on of hands" Bishop Murphy ordains Dcn. John Ryan to the Priesthood. Bishop Murphy then invites the concelebrating Bishops and Priests to "lay hands" on each of the candidates during the ordination rite.
Fr. John Ryan is now assisted with being clothed with a stole and chasuable.
